Hey all, so this is something that I've been thinking about for a while but have never really had any conversation about with the league. As we all know, quarterbacks are the most important player on a football team (just ask Mahomes and his new contract). Our league, with only 1 active QB each week, does not reflect that fact in the way we treat and price quarterbacks.
With that fact in mind, what would the general thoughts be on converting one of the FLEX spots in our active lineup to a SUPERFLEX, meaning that any offense player, including QB's, can be played in that slot? I know it is bad form to change roster settings mid-league, which is why I want to get some reaction from you all. Feel free to shoot it down if you feel so inclined, but creating a SUPERFLEX spot would help bolster the value of the QB to be more in line with real-world value.
As always, please discuss freely

I tend to think if you want to bolster the value of the QB, you should make the points reflect that, don't add another slot.
And if you want to add/modify a slot that will alter impacts like this would, I recommend you give teams a two year notice as some may now have salary cap impacts because they weren't planning for it that will make it more challenging to compete.
It isn't a minor change consideration. My two cents, but I'm new here.

I agree with the notice, although one year is probably enough.

I don’t like that. I would not have traded Lamar in a super flex league.

Would really go for the super flex idea and like it but I do understand it should be added after owners have had time to adjust the rosters.

Good thought that if we are going to implement a change like this it should take place a year or two in the future to give everyone time to plan and adjust. Those of you who voted against the superflex, would delaying the implementation change your vote or are you against it in general?

Generally, I'm against it. My rationale is that real teams play with 1 QB...so should we (I dislike 2 catcher leagues for same reason). I know its not a terrific analogy, but I like my league to as closely reflect real life sports as possible and playing 2 QBs at once feels silly.
However if the change IS made, it should definitely not be implemented for a season or 2.

I agree, rarely will teams have more than a single QB impact the game, however, they can use multiple sets which take advantage of a wide range of RB, WR, and TE.
Additional secondary and tertiary affects includes impact to the salary cap, as QBs become more expensive and now there are more of them, how do teams who invested heavily in other areas over a 4 or 5 year contract account for that and what are the longer-term impacts?
I still believe if you want QBs to have the greatest impact, modifying scoring (for example, giving additional bonus points for 400 yards passing or passing TDs) is the way to do that. That said, I think QBs carry the heaviest weight in that category and making it too lopsided doesn't work, either. There are still other impact players who got their teams where they are, and putting ourselves in a position where Michael Thomas and Christian McCaffrey are below average QBs...

I voted Flex because if we were to entertain a SuperFlex position, we would need a lot of time to adjust, maybe even adding roster slots. Look at it from the perspective of our running 2 team defenses. With a 32 team NFL and a 12 team league, there aren't enough to go around if everyone wants to be able to fill their slots and have a backup for BYE weeks. Aside from the fact that there are teams that run defenses that no sane person would ever want to roster, this puts a huge premium on the position as a whole, nevermind what top defenses go for.
If we were to allow 2 active QBs, having 4 QBs on roster would not be crazy.
I'm in a keeper league that I can really only take semi-seriously because there are 2 superflex spots. It gets silly.
