Well, we made it through the NFL fantasy season despite the COVID. From having games postponed three times in one week to teams starting practice squad wide receivers as their QB's we got to see some interesting stuff this season. To prove just how wild things are, the Browns are on the cusp of making the playoffs although they took a huge blow by losing to the Jets after every single one of their wide receivers was forced to sit Week 16 out. Who knows what will happen with the NFL playoffs, though if this season shows us anything it's that the NFL will stop at nothing to put its players out on that field and compete/rake in dollars every week. The show will go on!
Speaking of shows, our own Las Vegas Strips put on what was essentially a wire-to-wire beatdown on the 4SM league. Brian not only finished the regular season with the best record, but outscored the second highest team by over 200 points. Speaking of 200 points, over the years I have come to realize that scoring 200 points in a single week is the benchmark of a highly successful week. In a show of remarkable consistency, the Strips scored at least 200 points in all but 3 weeks during the course of the season. And just think if the McCaffrey trade had paid off and Brian had gotten some production out of CMC.
Throughout the regular season there was a pretty clear top tier of 4 teams that included the Strips, Grizzlies, Sting, and Pelicans. Oh, and I guess the lucky Haze that managed a tie for the best record despite finishing with fewer points than the 11th place Warriors. That tier (and the Haze) ended up proving themselves in the playoffs, finishing as the top 5 teams without any really putting up a stinker in the postseason. Any of the squads could have ended up as the champion, though I think it's safe to say Brian earned his first NFL title.
To provide a brief update on the all-time league standings, the big and obvious mover was Las Vegas jumping from last to 8th overnight. The top of the heap stayed pretty stable, with Montana regaining a few points of the lead they gave up to the Sting during the last league year but it's still a commanding lead. Dallas did jump ahead of New York for 4th, and the Haze have nearly matched their point total from the last two years already. Buffalo now moves back into the caboose position after picking up some ground last winter, and the lesser St. Louis team just ahead in 11th. Hopefully as we flip the calendar to 2021 we will begin to return to some semblance of normalcy. Either way, though, we will do our best NFL impression and ensure that the show goes on!
