Clayhounds Dawgs, Las Vegas Strips, and 1 more like this

With the NHL and NBA playoffs concluding here these last few weeks we now enter the "slowest" time in Four Sport Mayhem, with only one active sport. Of course this is also one of the rare times when all four sports are open for trading, so we typically see some major moves during the summer months and I expect nothing different this offseason. This is especially true with new management stepping into the New Jersey Haze front office, as Scott will be looking to build his teams as he sees fit. This time also marks the moment when league standings change the most, as the NHL and NBA results come in together. Here we go!
Due to the COVID-necessitated schedule changes, we crowned our new NBA champion first. That honor went to the Las Vegas Strips as they secured their second title in this league season to go along with the NFL trophy. The road to the NBA championship seemed to be one of attrition this year, with many top players either injured or rested down the stretch for all teams. Vegas survived the onslaught best, though, and looked to complete a trifecta with an NHL championship (more on that later). The runner-up Sting had the best regular season record, as the prolonged rebuild on the hardwood seems to have come to fruition despite the loss in the finals. Syracuse and Montana rounded out the championship-caliber teams, and then there was an intense battle for the final playoff spot that came down to the final week and a 1 game difference between DC and BSHU. Buffalo once again secured the first overall pick, as they will look to add to the stockpile of promising young talent that has been accumulated in recent seasons.
On the ice, the big story going in was the Strips attempt to win their third title of the year after entering the playoffs with the #2 seed and a bye. Unfortunately for Brian, Dallas had other ideas as they marched into a championship battle with the #1 seed Pelicans. The two week matchup featured plenty of players being rested, injuries, and a big early lead built by Dallas. As the matchup rolled on, though, Pensacola slowly brought the score back closer and closer until the teams entered the final days deadlocked in a tie. Coming down to the last day, and last game of the season, both teams made strategic moves to get more firepower into their lineups but it was all for naught. For the first time in league history we had a championship matchup end in a tie, making the higher seeded Pelicans the 2022 champion! On the flip side, we had the Stars managed to lose over 200 categories on the season with BSHU not too far behind. Besides those teams there was quite a bit of parity in NHL this season.
Now for the league standings update! As you can probably imagine, winning an NBA championship and having the second best regular season NHL record added to the Strips lead that they had built with their NFL crown. The Strips have already accumulated a whopping 62 points, which ties their co-championship number from the entire 2020-21 league year. There is a bit of a gap behind Vegas, but the Sting and Pelicans both have realistic shots at the league title depending on MLB results, where all of the top 3 teams have gotten out to strong starts and should be expected to be playoff teams. BSHU, Buffalo, and the Stars have all had a tough year, each failing to eclipse 3 points through 3 sports completed. They will hope to turn things around on the diamond.
In the All-Time league standings, the Sting created a bit more separation from the Grizz and Warriors at the top on the heels of their strong NBA season, and those three remain ahead of the rest of the league. The Pelicans have started to close that gap with two more playoff appearances, though, and Vegas made a charge past the Desperados and into 5th place after that franchise languished at the bottom for years early in the league's history. The rest of the standings remain mostly unchanged.
