I also like the idea of explaining why teams completed trades; it is tantamount to the gms talking to the media after trades.
My NHL team is obviously nowhere near contention, as it is by far my worst team. Lucic is having a fantastic year and felt now would be a great time to sell high rather than bringing him back in restricted free agency for over 25 a year. Koivu is also getting up there in age and would not have a clear fit on my team in the future despite his strong play as of late.
As for the package I am getting back, Timo Meier is obviously the key piece. I think he has a chance to be an absolute stud next to Toffoli and Eberle at RW for my team. I am also expecting Jenner to return to the form we saw last season, as I think he has tremendous potential. I am happy to bring back Spurgeon and add some depth to a much depleted defense. Stastny will temporarily fill the void left by Koivu. Eriksson was more to make the salaries work, but he could prove to be a solid addition as well.
It was tough to give up two good players, but I am excited about the return I was able to bring in.

Between injuries and general lack of production I'm surprised my team is remotely competitive this year. Koivu and Lucic are warm bodies that have been generating good numbers in a variety of categories. It hurt to give up Spurgeon and Jenner (especially with that contract) but I'm loaded with defensemen.
Now I have a winger upgrade a center that is playing well and a little more cap room and roster space to fiddle around some more.
